Maybe you found your moms gown tightly packaged in it’s preservation box, your grandmothers dress stuffed away in the closet or a truly phenomenal vintage find. Older gowns require a special kind of touch and after redesigning a 1940’s family heirloom back in 2016 I was hooked. Taking a piece of fashion history and giving it new life is really something special. Sometimes it only takes a little cleaning and a few repairs, sometimes it’s fully removing the lace applique and taking apart every seam of the bodice to replace the fabric. Every gown, like every bride, is different and requires different levels of attention - that’s why the price of heirloom gown alterations can run from $200-$1500, and anywhere in between.
